AHA'S AND ACTION:

Here are 2 thoughts, 2 inspirations, and 1 question for you to reflect on this week…

2 THOUGHTS FROM ME

1. Lately I tend to come from ‘I don’t know’ more of the time. I know when I am unsure my intellect isn't going to give me the answer and I am getting more comfortable with that. I used to think if I just analyzed something hard enough, long enough, from every angle, the answer would show up. But it doesn't work that way. We have access to innate wisdom — to seeing something new, something fresh – and that comes through reflection, not analysis. Not more thinking, more effort, more overthinking. It comes when I let go and give it space. Trusting this took me a while to buy into.

2. Several years ago, I went to my doctor, and my blood pressure was through the roof. He told me I was headed for a heart attack or a stroke and put me on medication. Up until then, I'd been living in a constant state of stress – family, work, money, life stress — and I just thought that was part of growing up. Ten years ago, I learned how we create our experience and as I have been deepening my understanding, I’ve spent more time reflecting and have seen time and time again how to do my life differently – with more ease and happiness - I am eating better, I’ve lost some weight. prioritized sleep, enjoying my work and family and friends…. And I'm no longer on blood pressure medicine. That came through reflection — not from trying harder to figure things out.

2 INSPIRATIONS FROM OTHER PEOPLE

1. To be inspired, literally, means to have something breathed into you — from the Latin inspirare, "to breathe into." Not manufactured. Received.

2. In a study published in Psychological Science, researchers gave people a problem, then a break — either a demanding task, an easy task that let the mind wander, or no break at all. The group given the easy, mind-wandering task solved the original problem substantially better afterward than any other group — and it wasn't from consciously thinking about the problem during the break. It was the wandering itself that did it.

1 QUESTION FOR YOU

1. Where in your life are you trying to think your way to an answer that is waiting for you in the quiet, once you stop searching? Are you willing to wait?
