Happy, sad, angry — no problem.

AHA'S AND ACTION:
Here are 2 thoughts, 2 inspirations, and 1 question for you to reflect on this week…
2 THOUGHTS FROM ME
1. My feelings are a compass. A guide. Happy, sad, angry — no problem. They're not something to fix or fight, they're just pointing me somewhere, telling me where my thinking is at in that moment. Once I caught on to this my life has continued to get better – more relaxed, easier, less stressful.
2. When I'm really frustrated, or ticked off, I know one thing for sure: my thinking is not reliable right now. I can't trust it. So, I better not send that nasty email. I better not say that mean thing. My feelings and my thoughts come and go — and knowing that has been so useful. I just have to wait it out. (and sometimes that’s the hardest part ☺)
2 INSPIRATIONS FROM OTHER PEOPLE
1. “Our feelings are the barometer of the soul. They are the measure of our thinking.” by Sydney Banks.
2. “You are not at the mercy of mythical emotion circuits. You have more control over your emotions than you think you do.” by Lisa Feldman Barrett, neuroscientist.
1 QUESTION FOR YOU
1. Next time that surge shows up — annoyed, sad, or angry — what if you just noticed it as a compass reading, instead of a command to act on right now?
