Your way, my way, and the highway.

AHA'S AND ACTION:
Here are 2 thoughts, 2 inspirations, and 1 question for you to reflect on this week…
2 THOUGHTS FROM ME
1. For years I was a people pleaser. I listened to everyone — everyone but myself. What that created in me was dis-ease: an unsettled, unhappy way of moving through my own life. I was so busy chasing everyone else's approval that I lost touch with what I thought, wanted, or felt. Nothing was ever wrong with me. I wasn't broken. I just didn’t know there was another way.
2. I had an insight: if I have the capacity to feel miserable, I also have the capacity to feel happy. Both live inside me. Which one I experience isn't handed to me by circumstances or other people's opinions — it's up to me. That put the wheel back in my hands.
2 INSPIRATIONS FROM OTHER PEOPLE
1. Zen master Lin Chi taught a version of this centuries ago: the whole, complete person isn't something to become — it's who we already are underneath the striving. Nothing to fix, nowhere to get to.
2. Abraham Lincoln is widely credited with the idea that most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be.
1 QUESTION FOR YOU
1. Where in your life right now are you living someone else's way instead of your own — and what would it feel like to trust your own way?
