AHA'S AND ACTION:
Here are 2 thoughts, 2 inspirations, and 1 question for you to reflect on this week…
2 THOUGHTS FROM ME
1. There have been moments—especially in my relationship with Dave—when I’ve been so sure I was right. I had the facts. The reasoning. The logic. But no matter how clearly I explained myself, it didn’t bring us closer. What I’ve come to realize is that being right doesn’t always lead to feeling connected.
True understanding starts when I step into his shoes. Not to fix or debate, but to feel what he might be feeling. I don’t have to agree with his point of view to understand where it’s coming from. And when I listen from that place, the energy shifts. The walls come down. Communication becomes connection.
2. I’ve noticed that when I’m in a rush, that’s when I get short with my words. I speak fast, cut people off, stop listening. It’s not because I don’t care—it’s because when I’m moving quickly on the outside, I lose touch with the calm and clarity that live on the inside.
This awareness has helped me respond differently. Now, when I feel myself speeding up, I can catch it. Instead of snapping or shutting down, I pause. Sometimes it’s as simple as offering a hug and saying, “Let’s talk more about this later.” Or giving a smile that says, “I hear you—and we’ll figure this out.”
Finding a way to understand your partner is a wise thing to do.
2 INSPIRATIONS FROM OTHER PEOPLE
1. “Try to understand the man who is angry at you: perhaps he only wants to be heard.” by Rumi.
2. “Connection is the energy that is created between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued.” by Brené Brown.
1 QUESTION FOR YOU
1. Are you speaking to your partner in his or her way? Are you willing to give it a try?
