You fell in love, got married… isn’t it reasonable to want more?

AHA'S AND ACTION:
Here are 2 thoughts, 2 inspirations, and 1 question for you to reflect on this week…
2 THOUGHTS FROM ME
1. No one really talks about this part. You fall in love, you build a life, maybe you raise kids, navigate careers—and then one day, you look around and think, Is this it? That doesn’t mean something’s wrong. It just means you’re growing. Wanting more depth, more connection, more you in the relationship isn’t a failure. It’s a signal.
But…here’s the kicker…the less you think about what you want out of your relationship the happier you will be. The more you focus on what you like about your partner, and the less you focus on what you don’t like, the happier you will be. All of the love, excitement, and fun that you ‘used’ to have is still there and there are all kinds of possibilities to start fresh.
Is this easy to do? No.
Is it unrealistic? Again, no.
2. Dave and I rarely fight—truly, I can count the number of times on one hand. We make a conscious effort to see the good in each other, even when things are stressful or messy – Dave is especially good at this.
In my work with couples, I’ve seen this over and over again: even when relationships feel stuck or strained, change is always possible. Love doesn’t disappear—it just gets buried under layers of misunderstanding, fear, and noise. But it’s still there. And when people reconnect with that, everything begins to shift.
2 INSPIRATIONS FROM OTHER PEOPLE
1. “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” by Rumi.
2. "Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope." by Maya Angelou.
1 QUESTION FOR YOU
1. What is it about your partner that you first fell in love with, way before you found yourself where you are at right now?
