AHA'S AND ACTION:
Here are 2 thoughts, 2 inspirations, and 1 question for you to reflect on this week…
2 THOUGHTS FROM ME
I’ve started to notice a pattern in myself. When I’m in a low mood, everything feels gloomier. People sound more annoying. Problems feel more personal. I’m quicker to judge, quicker to blame, and quicker to think something is wrong with ‘them’. Sitting across from someone in that state, I can feel myself losing my footing — I feel edgy and ready to pounce. Just the other day I was feeling this way while driving to a family function and luckily, I noticed it. I was able to walk in and feel cheerier, to think about how grateful I am to even have a family. It made a difference in how much I enjoyed my afternoon.
What helps me reset is remembering that my reaction is always coming from me. Not from them. When I get back to my own well-being — even a little — I start to see the health in the person across from me instead of the problem. My tone changes. I listen differently. And the conversation always goes better. Being in a high mood doesn’t make life perfect but it sure makes it easier for me to enjoy my day.
2 INSPIRATIONS FROM OTHER PEOPLE
“You don’t see the world as it is. You see it as you are.” by Anaïs Nin.
“When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” by Wayne Dyer.
1 QUESTION FOR YOU
When you notice yourself getting frustrated or closed off this week, what shifts if you check in with your own mood before focusing on what the other person is doing?
