AHA'S AND ACTION:
Here are 2 thoughts, 2 inspirations, and 1 question for you to reflect on this week…
2 THOUGHTS FROM ME
1. My thoughts aren’t facts. They’re just passing clouds—neutral, meaningless until I give them weight. When I first learned that, I actually felt relieved. Because let’s be honest… some of the thoughts I’ve had? Outrageous. 😅
I was raised Catholic, and I still remember this one part of the weekly prayer—confessing not just what we did, but what we thought. I used to sit there thinking, “Well, I’m doomed. If I’m going to hell for what’s in my head, game over.”
But here’s what’s wild: the more I understand how thought works, the lighter life feels. Simpler. Calmer. Funner. It’s like once you stop believing everything you think, the real you gets to breathe again.
2. Neuroscience shows that while thoughts can trigger feelings, it's our relationship to those thoughts that determines how we feel. I know that my feelings are shadows of my thoughts. They are signals that show me what I am thinking about. It’s a game I play with myself. For instance, when I am feeling angry, or frustrated I know that my thoughts are running the show and it’s time to settle down my mind. It’s not a time to make any big decision or react to anyone or anything that is going on outside of me.
2 INSPIRATIONS FROM OTHER PEOPLE
1. Neuroscience shows that while thoughts can trigger feelings, it's our relationship to those thoughts that determines how we feel.
Meaning: when you shift your perspective, your emotional world shifts too.
2. “We are only one thought away from a completely different experience of life.” by Sydney Banks.
1 QUESTION FOR YOU
1. What’s one recurring thought or feeling that you’ve been believing without questioning? What if it’s just noise?
