AHA'S AND ACTION:
Here are 2 thoughts, 2 inspirations, and 1 question for you to reflect on this week…
2 THOUGHTS FROM ME
For the past several decades, I’ve been very curious about one thing: Why aren’t we all happier? And what I’ve learned through the research I’ve done and the conversations I’ve had is something both simple and powerful — good relationships keep us healthier and happier.
My relationship with myself quietly sets the mood for every other relationship in my life. I remember sitting in a room with one of my mentors when they said, “The less you think about what you want out of your relationships, the happier you will be.”
What really landed for me was this: instead of focusing on what I don’t like about other people, I can focus on what I do like. Imagine if we all did that. The world would feel like a very different place.
I’ve also noticed how this shows up in everyday moments. When I’m feeling steady on the inside, I tend to be more patient, more curious, and less defensive. When I’m not, I can catch myself scanning for what’s wrong instead of what’s right. Nothing outside has changed — just the way I’m meeting it.
2 INSPIRATIONS FROM OTHER PEOPLE
“Good relationships keep us happier and healthier. Period.” by Robert Waldinger.
“We are born in relationship, we are wounded in relationship, and we can be healed in relationship.” by Harville Hendrix.
1 QUESTION FOR YOU
What might shift this week if you focused a little more on what you appreciate about the people in your life — including yourself?
